April 26, 2021 — Earth Animal's mission is to give pets the best quality of life via pure, safe and natural ingredients. To our customers, they're known to achieve this mission with their flea & tick products and popular rawhide alternative, No-Hide Chews.

In 2020, a lawsuit was filed against Earth Animal over concerns that their No-Hide Chews contained rawhide. Rawhide is known to contain harmful chemicals and preservatives, as well as cause difficulty with digestion, so while dogs may find it tasty, we have always avoided carrying any rawhide products for this reason.

According to the lawsuit, Earth Animal misrepresented their chews, claiming that they do contain rawhide meaning "added hormones, steroids, chemicals and/or unnatural or other ingredients" were in their chews.

This lawsuit recently resurfaced, so we wanted to share that Earth Animal continues to deny these claims and released the findings of the FDA investigation in 2020 to dispute this claim. In addition, they've shared statements from multiple 3rd party investigators in a document titled No-Hiding the Truth on No-Hide Chews.

Earth Animal's CEO Stewart Shanley wrote a blog titled "Our side of the story…an opinion piece from Stewart Shanley, Earth Animal’s Chief Executive Officer" in response to the allegations, where he says,

"In the matter at hand, we have been untruthfully accused of putting raw hide in our No-Hide®. These allegations, which have been repeatedly disproven, ignore the fact that No-Hide® was invented by the founders of Earth Animal because they strongly disapproved of the use of raw hide as an occupational chew...since No-Hide® was made available for consumers, we have strived to refine the science underlying our products and have continuously worked to improve product performance."
