It’s spring and you know what that means – Corgi Beach Day is near! This doggy meetup brings thousands of Corgis from all over the world to celebrate their stumpy legs, adorable faces, and wild spirits! Not only is it a meetup, but you’ll also see countless food trucks, vendors, and activities happening all at once. It can be challenging to know what’s the best thing to eat or where you can find the best freebies for you and your pet. As the event’s main sponsor again this year, Healthy Spot brings you 16 great hacks to have the best day ever! We can't wait to see you in Huntington Beach on Saturday April 7th!
Arrive Early!
So Cal Corgi Beach Day is the biggest doggy party on the planet, and we don’t want you to miss out on any of the fun! When it comes to a super busy event at the beach, we always suggest arriving early. Not only will this guarantee you great parking, but you’ll find the area and be able to check out cool vendors and activities that are sure to get busy. This year, Corgi Beach Day officially begins at 10 am, but we suggest arriving as early as 8 am. This way, you have the chance to find parking without much trouble, enjoy the early beach breeze, and possibly chat with vendors and the So Cal Corgi Nation team as they set up.
Stake Out a Spot
Not only do we recommend bringing towels in case you decide to take a dip in the water, but towels can also help you reserve the perfect sand spot. If you’re interested in seeing all of the Corgi contests (and who wouldn’t be?), we suggest you set up along the perimeter of the contest arena. This will ensure you have a close and clear view, which is hard to get as the day goes on. If you’re still unsure about where to set up, ask the vendors or volunteers and they’ll be sure to point you in the right direction. Does your Corgi have what it takes to win the Best Trick Contest or Best Momo (what the Corgis call their backsides!)? If so, make the sign ups one of your first stops when you arrive because slots fill up quickly.
Make a Schedule
Have you ever been to an event with so many fun activities that you miss a few great contests or Meet & Greets? Don’t miss a thing by visiting the schedule poster near the contest arena, taking a photo of it on your phone, and setting alarms. This way, if you get distracted, your phone will remind you to move on to an activity you will regret missing later.
Don’t Miss Out on Special Edition Bandanas!
Another advantage of arriving early is receiving a free, special edition Corgi Beach Day bandana provided by Healthy Spot! These are first come first served and can be picked up at Healthy Spot’s Vendor Village. You’ll see tons of Corgis wearing one from a previous year and trying to get their paws on this year’s latest – Don’t miss out!
Set Up a Meet Up Spot
If you’re coming with friends or meeting up with your squad at Corgi Beach Day, make sure to set up a meet up spot. Why do we suggest this? Cell phone service is very limited at Huntington Beach and it can be easy to lose your friends with so many people and pets surrounding the area.
Spend Some Time At Healthy Spot’s Vendor Village
You can’t come to SoCal Corgi Beach Day without stopping by Healthy Spot’s tent. We'll be giving out delicious samples from brands we carry and coupons to our locations, offering complimentary pawdicures for our furry friends, setting up a photo opp, and hosting the very popular Pup-Up Market. This is a flea market with deeply discounted pet favorites, where a portion of proceeds will be donated to Queen’s Best Stumpy Dog Rescue and help fund future adoptions. Bring a Tote Bag
People love attending because they know they’ll be leaving with tons of samples and swag for their pets. From freebies to apparel, you’ll be picking up a lot of goodies at every vendor you visit. Stay comfortable by bringing a tote bag! Just by stopping at Healthy Spot’s Vendor Village, you’ll be collecting special treats from a few of our partners - Primal, The Honest Kitchen, K9 Natural, and Grandma Lucy’s. This doesn’t even include other vendors! By bringing a tote bag, you won’t have to balance so many things in your arms while you hold your pet’s leash in one hand and your food truck lunch in the other.
Make Your Corgi Stand Out!
With so many unleashed Corgis running around, it can be quite easy to lose yours if they aren’t wearing something unique. Choose to dress them up in something personal and recognizable at this special event. For greater safety reasons, make sure to have your contact information on them. Whether it’s on their collar or on a piece of apparel, it’ll make it easier for you and your pet if they get lost. Don’t know how to make them stand out? Check out our Facebook album or #corgibeachday on Instagram for ideas of how other pet owners dressed their pets. There are over 1,000 Corgis at this event, so make sure your pup stands out!
Understand Your Dog’s Behavior
Before bringing your pet, take some time to evaluate your pet’s behaviors and preferences to best accommodate them at Corgi Beach Day. Have a pup that gets overwhelmed? Make sure they’re comfortable by keeping them on-leash at all times during the event. This will prevent accidents and put both you and your pet’s minds at ease. Does your pet get hot easily? Protect them from extreme temperatures with shoes for their paws and coverage with an umbrella. Do they get anxious? Try our relaxing, natural CBD oil. With a few pumps of this oil, your furry friend will relax and enjoy themselves all day at this doggy pawty. By putting your pet’s needs first, it’ll make it a better time for both you and them throughout the day!

Meet & Greet with Corgi Celebrities
Have a Corgi crush on an Instagram celebpawty? Take a picture with them or alongside your pup! Remember, they’re dogs too and they can get easily overwhelmed with so many people coming up to them throughout the day. As you know, when pets get overwhelmed, their reactions vary, from getting extremely timid to even biting the hand reaching out to them. Our advice is to keep cool, calm, and collected and ask for a picture first! Get Your Lunch Before Lunchtime
By arriving early and staying active at the beach, you’re sure to get hungry! Chow down on delicious items from food trucks serving grilled cheese sandwiches, gourmet hot dogs, funnel cakes, and more! There’s plenty of dishes, perfect for a wide variety of diets. We suggest getting your food before 11 am so you can skip the long lines and the hectic rush. Forgot to pack healthy snacks for your pup? Don’t worry! Stop by Healthy Spot’s Vendor Village and load up on a ton of free goodies!

Want to capture the best memories from the day? Healthy Spot will have a Tiki Beach themed photo booth as well as a Snapchat filter for you to take fun, creative pictures. Instead of taking pictures from your phone, step up your selfies and other photos with our colorful booth and unique filter that’ll have all your friends wanting to come to the next SoCal Corgi Beach Day!
Leave with a Loving Corgi!
If you don’t own a Corgi, we guarantee you’ll want one by the time you leave! Corgi Beach Day has partnered with Queen’s Best Stumpy Dog Rescue, a SoCal rescue that has helped Corgi rescues with special needs since 2013. Be sure to stop by their booth, learn about the breed, and fall in love with an adoptable pet! If you or anybody you know is looking to adopt, we suggest stopping by and meeting all the Corgis looking for a furever home.
