Letter from Andrew Kim, Our Co-Founder and CEO

I co-founded Healthy Spot in 2008 because I love animals and I am deeply passionate about helping others give the highest-quality care to their pets.

On January 23, a pet suffered significant injuries to its tail during a routine grooming procedure at Healthy Spot in Costa Mesa. As CEO of Healthy Spot, I take full responsibility for the mistake made by a member of our grooming team. I am mortified and heartbroken that this occurred on our watch.

We immediately suspended the team member responsible, and we initiated a comprehensive internal investigation into the causes of this incident. We found that the team member did not adhere to the rigorous safety standards and protocols that we require all employees to follow. We have a clear zero-tolerance policy for the mishandling of pets under our care. As a result, this person is no longer a Healthy Spot employee.

On behalf of Healthy Spot, I have extended our most sincere apologies to the pet parent affected by this incident and have made clear that there are absolutely no excuses for what occurred.

Moments like these drive us to do better. We will double-down on our mission to set the highest standards in the pet services industry for safety, compassion, and integrity. As a small California-based retailer, over the last 13 years, we have built an incredible community of team members and customers. It is our greatest honor to treat the pets entrusted in our care like they’re our own. We will continue to learn and grow from this incident and always promise to be honest and transparent with you – our Healthy Spot family.
