We love Long Beach! We love it so much we opened up a Healthy Spot there. Why do we love it? Because it’s one of the most dog-friendly cities in Southern California. With 10 dog parks and dozens of dog-friendly businesses, there’s always something to do and a neighborhood to explore with your pup in tow. Here are our Top 5 favorite spots to bring Spot to!

Frosted Cupcakery

Got a sweet tooth? Frosted Cupcakery will satisfy your craving. Located in the heart of Belmont Shore’s charming 2nd Street business district, Frosted Cupcakery offers dozens of made-from-scratch cupcakes along with Pupcakes for your fur baby.  They also have specialized cupcakes such as gluten-free, seasonal, and ice cream cupcakes!

Frosted Cupcakery is located at 4817 E 2nd St.

The Attic

If you’re craving some serious comfort food, head over to The Attic. Located in a 1920s craftsman house, The Attic offers a large patio area where you can bring your dog and enjoy southern cooking and craft cocktails. Known for their award winning Brunch and Mac and Cheese topped with Flaming Hot Cheetos, they also offer plenty of hearty dishes like their short rib poutine, bourbon glazed steak, and buttermilk fried chicken. They even have a menu just for your pup like sausage, chicken, and bacon!

The Attic is located at 3441 East Broadway

Downtown Long Beach

There’s plenty of urban exploring opportunities in Downtown Long Beach. Walk around the Aquarium of the Pacific and watch the sunset at Shoreline Aquatic Park. Or head into the heart of Downtown Long Beach and check out the newly opened Downtown Dog Park. With separate areas for large and small dogs, it’s the perfect spot to let your pup out to play. Looking for a bite to eat? Beachwood Brewing & BBQ offers some of the best beers and BBQ in SoCal with a large pet-friendly outdoor patio.

The Long Beach Downtown Dog Park is located at Broadway and Pacific Ave.

Rosie’s Dog Beach

Let your pups run loose and enjoy the water at Rosie’s Dog Beach. While not an official “dog beach,” the unfenced area is a Dog Zone from 6am to 8pm every day. With plenty of dog friendly amenities, Rosie’s Dog Beach is a great place to let your pup watch some waves and play in the sand.

Rosie's Dog Beach is located at 5000 East Ocean Blvd.

Los Angeles River Trail

Starting near Burbank, the Los Angeles River Trail ends in Long Beach. You can walk and explore the scenic area where the Los Angeles River meets the Pacific Ocean. Although most of the LA River is channeled, you can still spot plenty of native wildflowers and wildlife along the pedestrian bike paths and walkways. The waterfront portion of the trail also connects to a larger network of trails and parks such as DeForest Park.

You can enter the LA River Trail at the Long Beach Shoreline Marina at 54th Pl. and East Ocean Blvd.
