Stella and Chewy's Stop Sale Order

We want to inform you that one of our product manufacturers, Stella and Chewys, has been issued a stop sale order on a limited number of products by the Maryland Department of Agriculture.
A limited amount of Stella and Chewy’s freeze dried chicken patties dog food was tested positive of Listeria monocytogenes for the lot number 111-15 and the use by date of April 23, 2016. There has been no official release by the company but we are in communication with the senior level management to determine the scope of the matter.
We have identified that a very limited amount of this lot numbers were in some of our locations. Though the stop sale was limited only to the specified lot number of product, as a precautionary and proactive measure, we have removed all Stella and Chewy’s Chicken Products off the shelves earlier today. This includes all freeze-dried patties, meal mixers, raw food and treats.
Consumers that have unopened bags of the chicken patties are urged to keep it sealed, away from people and to throw it away. Those who have opened bags are urged to use disposable gloves and place them in double plastic bags, seal it and throw it away.
While this pertains to only the limited lot, we fully guarantee our products. If you feel uncomfortable with any Stella and Chewy’s product purchased at Healthy Spot, we will gladly provide you a refund or exchange. If you threw away a Stella and Chewy’s bag purchased at Healthy Spot, we can provide you a product exchange or refund.
Healthy Spot’s Commitment
At Healthy Spot, we understand that your four-legged member is family and we have historically and always will strive to partner with you, not the manufacturer, to provide you the highest quality, safest and healthiest nutrition for your family. We realize that these recalls may bring concerns regarding the product lines affected as pet parents ourselves. We want to assure you that when making decision what products to carry, avoid or discontinue that we research and take several elements into our selection criteria before they reach Healthy Spot shelves including the integrity of the company, ingredients and the manufacturing process.
Our family, friends, customers and our local community entrusts in us that we only provide the best for our best friends. We take this responsibility very seriously. We are transparent in how we handle these situations, because it is the responsible thing to do. We want you to continue to have a high level of confidence in Healthy Spot. So despite all our due diligence and best efforts to screen all the products that are put on our shelves, there will always remain a very small margin for potential issues with our product selections.
How these issues are communicated, speed in which they are addressed, how they will improve, the likelihood of the incident repeating, and their company history, all help us determine whether we will continue to carry the brands after these incidents occur.
At this time, we maintain a high level of confidence with Stella and Chewy’s. Based on our knowledge and relationship with the owner and management of this company, we do believe they truly care about the pets and the integrity of their products. This company provides a healthier alternative to the traditional products and has never had a recall or other product integrity issues in its history.
Rest assured, we will only continue to carry their products, if they continue to meet our ongoing, stringent selection criteria. We will keep you posted with any changes in the status on this matter.
Please let us know if we can be of any assistance or if you have questions.
We appreciate your continued support.
