Corgi Beach Day 2016

Healthy Spot has been a long time supporter of SoCal Corgi Beach Day and we are excited to take our partnership with them to the next level; this year we will be their exclusive platinum sponsors! We will be helping to make Corgi Beach Day 2016 even bigger and better than ever before. We will be setting up a Pup Up Market, Vendor Demos, Giveaways, A Fun Photo Contest and much more!

We had a chance to sit down with Kelly McLemore one of the founders of So Cal Corgi Beach Day and ask her a few questions about her relationship with Healthy Spot:

Corgi Beach Day 2016

The First Corgi Beach Day With Healthy Spot

The first event Healthy Spot attended was our Spring 2014 So Cal Corgi Beach Day. Healthy Spot came out and gave us prize donations for our contests and the wonderful Tracey Turner [Healthy Spot Ambassador] helped us out at our sign in table where we keep a tally of all the corgis that attend each Corgi Beach Day. Back then, we used to hand out cookies and name tags to all of our attendees...it's grown immensely since!

How long have you been organizing these events?

Since October 2012, we host 3 So Cal Corgi Beach Day events per year: Spring, Summer and Fall.  Spring and Fall are at the Huntington Beach Dog Beach and Summer is at Rosie's Dog Beach in Long Beach. In Winter, we take a break from the beach and have our group march in the Belmont Shore Christmas Parade. This past December, Healthy Spot hosted our very first "Christmas Parade After-Pawty" at the Long Beach store. It was a great success and everyone had such a fun time!

At what point did these events go from a small meetup group to a nationally publicized event?

Our first meetup was in October 2012, with a small but mighty group of 15 corgis and their owners.  We had simply wanted to have a casual beach day to meet some fellow corgi owners we knew from Facebook. Everyone had such a great time that we decided to organize one a few months later. At the second Corgi Beach Day about 100 corgis showed.  Every Corgi Beach Day we hosted since we have seen the attendance double and triple. By 2015 we had over 800+ corgis and thousands of corgi lovers attending each event.  Each time the event grew, we started adding in events and contests, designing and producing our own event t-shirts and merchandise, which in turn, helped to support Queen's Best Stumpy Dog Rescue. By Spring 2015 we had attracted media attention from CNN, Huffington Post, BuzzFeed video, Good Morning America, The Daily Mail and more, with local-to-worldwide media outlets showing up each time to cover this Corgi mania!

Why do you feel Healthy Spot is a good partner?

We agree with Healthy Spot's values and mission, and wanted to partner with a brand who is directly in line with our beliefs that our pets are family to us and deserve nothing but the best!  We've always received such positive feedback from our Corgi Beach Day attendees about the level of quality, integrity and customer service that Healthy Spot provides.  Healthy Spot has been with us through our growth and evolution, so it was a natural progression that we expand our partnership and continue growing together. We love working with Healthy Spot and are so excited to be able to showcase them as our Platinum Sponsor for Spring 2016's So Cal Corgi Beach Day!
